Happy New Year beautiful creatives. I am definitely feeling the wild new energy of this coming year. 2015 is feeling good…so good i want you to have this heart embedded chard leaf. Isn't it cute?
I have no resolutions to profess only new routines, rhythms and habits to embark upon. Changing with the seasons makes for a more productive and health-filled year. It's the secret sauce to gaining momentum and actually doing what you say you are going to do. Trust me, this is your year to be wholeheartedly you- inside and out.
So, here are some tips for making a FRESH START this winter season:
+ what do you need? Put some pen to paper and write everything that comes to mind. Look at the season ahead and figure out what needs to happen. How do you want to feel? What do you want your days to look like? What do you need more of/less of. Simplicity will be your driving force. Here are some sample categories to look at:
movement + mindfulness // food // creativity //personal style // personal space // morning routines // adventure
+ simplify and make a plan- Okay so look at your list and simplify your expectations. Pick the most important to you…3 habits are a great starting point. Write down how each habit will happen. What day? What time-ish? For example, you could be looking to 1. add yoga to your morning routine 2. eat more soup 3. redo your living room so you can have friends over for weekly potlucks. The plan can go like this.: 1. every morning at 6-ish you get on your mat for 15 minutes. 2. Every Monday is soup day- plan out a months worth of soup recipes. 3. Find some fun and useful storage and decor solutions to make your living room functional and cute or take an entire sunday to simplify and redesign. Remember, the key is simplicity. Don't overcomplicate or think too much. Listen to your heart and go from there.
+ Get going and don't quit- So this is where the magic happens or doesn't happen. Implementation is scary and new. Don't look ahead just stay on today and if things don't happen the way you want (hello motherhood) just shoot for the next day. No guilt- just love. You can do this because you understand the absolute importance of how health affects your well-being and in turn your creative process.
So, what are you waiting for? What are your new routines/rhythms/habits? What's your plan to make them happen?
